Barcelona have emerged as the latest club interested in signing one of Liverpool’s targets.
Liverpool has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season under Arne Slot.
They have won 15 times in 17 games under the Dutchman, sending them to the top of the Premier League and Champions League tables and with a place in the last eight of the Carabao Cup.
But that has not stopped Liverpool from being active in the transfer market.
Liverpool signed only one player in the summer- Federico Chiesa from Juventus.
But they have been credited with a serious interest in the likes of Omar Marmoush and, most recently, Lille forward Lyon’s winger Rayan Cherki.
According to L’Equipe, Liverpool are seriously considering the Ligue 1 winger, who only recently signed a new deal at Lyon.
However, the Frenchman could be placed in the transfer market next summer due to Lyon’s financial situation.
The French club is in a very delicate situation and risks suffering administrative relegation.
To prevent this from happening, they are bound to have to raise €100 million from the sale of several stars in their squad, including Cherki.
Afield is a likely destination for the 21-year-old, but the Reds are now facing serious competition for the 21-year-old, according to the latest reports from Spain.
Barcelona join race for Rayan Cherki
According to the Spanish paper El Nacional, the Catalan club are big admirers of Cherki.
“His departure from Lyon is virtually assured in the next winter transfer window,” the paper said.
“Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have already contacted his agent, having been in advanced talks over the past summer, albeit without I didn’t get to specify anything.
“And Barça has also snuck in among the admirers of the Franco-Algerian attacker.
So Cherki is in the orbit of the Camp Nou.”
